Noodle soup with Chicken - Chatuchak (Bangkok)

Noodle soup with Chicken - Chatuchak

It is really a must to try out the chicken noodle when visiting Chatuchak Weekend Market. The noodle soup with braised chicken drumstick is absolutely delicious, especially when added the extra dried chili. that I poured into the soup. With as little as 50baht, you get to enjoy this heavenly dish in Chatuchak Weekend Market.

The Noodle Soup with Chicken is actually located at Section 21, Soi 29 facing Soi 47. The nearest gate is "Gate 3".

Opening hour is at 11am, i am so hungry to have some of their chicken noodle

The Noodle Soup with Chicken shop have different types of noodles available to choose : Kway Teow, Bee Hoon (Rice vermicell) and Yellow Noodles.

I chose rice vermicell since it will be able to absorb the essence of the broth totally. The chicken is tender and soft, very fresh too. Chicken knuckles are filled with tendons and chewy. Broth is tasty and sweet too, it does have abit of braised flavour in it. Add a bit of powdered chili if you like the spiciness.

Dong Fang Bird Nest - Yaowarat (Bangkok)

Dong Fang Bird Nest

When you visit Thailand, Bangkok, and you feel like having some chinese cuisine and also at the same time don't feel like paying alot, visit Yaowarat. Bangkok own chinatown where you can find alot of local chinese food. This stall sell bird nest at different price, range from 100baht to 500baht. Of course the quality of the bird nest is different like the prices. But this is still relatively cheaper if you are to taste them at different country like Singapore.

Different prices, different pots of bird nest. The staff is more than willing to show you how they look like.

200 baht bird nest cooked in rock sugar

Much more bigger size bits, other than that it just taste the same as bottled bird nest

100baht bird nest cooked in coconut, the broth is coconut juice which make it more unique. However the bird nest are more fine and hardly chew-able.

I will suggest to order the 200baht bird nest for better texture

The shop also sell shark fin which you can order beside bird nest. Order or not depend on your decision.

Verdict: 3 / 5

Price: 100 baht onwards

"The only thing i like better than talking about food is eating"

Menu

Drinking water - Chargeable and will definitely serve, do note

Spaghetti Cha Cha Cha 280baht.- Spaghetti coloured with squid Ink, serve with prawns and scallops stir-fried with Italian basil leaves, green peppercorns, roe and chilies. This dish is really really spicy, recommended for spice lover. Prawns and scallops are very fresh and the spaghetti is very tasty too.

Fried Sea Bass with Lemongrass 320 baht - Deep fried sea bass in special sauce served with chopped green mango, fried lemongrass, rice vermicelli with romaine leaves. The fish is fried nicely and it was juicy. Thin rice vermicelli is really very springy and delicious. I really like this dish very much.

Mixed Berries Crepe Cake 150 baht.- Crepe with blueberries and strawberry syrup. Look attractive but not very tasty. The amount of cream is just right but the berries are sour and i do not like it very much.

Red Velvet waffle - This is a highly recommended waffles i strongly urge all to try. Really very tasty, texture is crispy and chewy. Served with strawberries, whipped cream, buttered cream and berries syrup.

Verdict: 4.5 / 5

Classy cafe and the decoration look high end, i guess it is expensive to the locals but the food here is really very good and delicious especially the red velvet waffles.

Staffs are attentive and courteous, very friendly. I will definitely come back again

Zhong Tai Restaurant 中泰 - Melaka

Zhong Tai Restaurant

Located along the street of Melaka, this shop is near to hotel like Hatten and Equatorial hotel and some other smaller inn or hostel. Chinese cuisine are served here and its taste quite good too.

Braised Pork sliced (RM 15) - Not too shabby, abit spicy but still tolerable. Sliced pork are thinly cut and very tender and tasty. Recommended!

Black Pepper Crab (RM83- around 800 - 900g) - To me, i feel that this black pepper crab feel more like crispy black pepper crab. The crab is very crispy on the outside, seem like they are deep fried before cooking over the black pepper sauce. Meat is fresh. Overall, i find this normal only, not really very fantastic as I taste better versions...

Chili Crab (RM83- around 800 - 900g) - Very tasty, i really love this chili crab. The sauce is spicy yet sweet, prefer to eat with buns rather than white rice. The meat is fresh as they dont stick to the shell, juicy too. Recommended to try!!

Prawn paste chicken (RM 15) - Hmm, normal tender chicken, prawn paste not that strong, not really fascinated by this chicken.

Sambal vegetable (RM 15) - Local vegetable although it look like kangkong but it isnt. Texture is soft and crunchy, name in malay which i cant really remember. Quite nice, i strongly recommend this dish

Thai style sweet & sour steam fish (RM 48) - Signature dish. Really really very delicious. The fish is tender and fresh, mouth watering. The fish is steamed with sweet and sour broth. Very yummy and appetizing. Small fish is really not enough. Spice came from the chili padi, while other ingredients include lime, pineapple cubes, sliced onions. I really love this fish.

Verdict: 3 / 5

Out of the 6 dishes, i like 4 of them which show that the food here is tasty and delicious. But still this is my opinions, which may differ from others. Food are freshly cooked and most of them very tasty. Service is not that good as I have to try alot of times just to grab a staff's attention.

Overall experience is still ok, i might drop by again to try other dishes.

Artistry - Singapore

Artistry

Near Arab street and Bugis, this art gallery and cafe is very popular the young and is usually packed during weekend. The cafe serves a mixture of desserts, sandwiches to coffee and beers

Full house during weekend

Cakes on display

Left - Lemon cake, Right - Sea Salt chocolate cake

I was served to the bar counter as there are really no space when i reached the shop, but i get to see how busy the staffs are and the number of food that were already sold out before 2pm. What attract me more is how the Barista making cups and cups of coffee with different designs on each cup. As most of the brunch and mains are already sold out, i have to make do with sandwiches.

Menu also stated that they serve limited quantity of food to ensure quality

Mocha ($6) - Not too bad, the chocolate and coffee taste are well balance

Cappuccino ($5)

Roast Beef & Cherry Sandwich ($10) - Crispy and yummy. Filling include cherry sauce cheese, tomatoes, vegetable and beef slices. The cherry sauce make the sandwich sweet yet having a zest of sourly taste, eating together with the beef really make me wanting to have more. The dough is crispy but not very tough to chew.

Red Velvet Cake ($7) - Sweet and delicious cake. The cake is soft and moist, not very dry, really must try.

Verdict: 4 / 5

Price: around $7 onward for food (No GST & SERVICE CHARGE)

Staffs are courteous and friendly, they inform each customers before sitting down or ordering that their food had already sold out or what food are available.

The price of the food is relatively cheap and they do hold certain quality, not on mass production. Maybe the lack of indoor seats is the only thing i do not like, otherwise all are good.

Overall, i had a very good experience and will definitely revisit again, hopefully will reach earlier to avoid disappointment.
