Bollywood Veggies - Kranji

Bollywood Veggies is one of a unique rural scene of Singapore which is well hidden at a deep corner of Kranji and Lim Chu Kang region. Due to its inaccessible location, the place is not too crowded and it provide a peaceful stroll by the vegetable and flower gardens after a meal. Poison Ivy is a restaurant within Bollywood Veggies which provide an organic dining option for the visitors, to have a healthy and satisfying meal while at the farm. Vegetarian meal available as well.

Poison Ivy Cafe - outdoor seating

Air Conditional cafe

Menu written on chalk board

Dessert and drinks menu. One of the hightly recommended item is the banana cake which is made from the bananas freshly plucked from the tree.

Banana cake ($3.50) - Warm and moist with rich banana taste. Cake is firm and yet soft in texture. With just one bite, you will be able to taste the banana straight away. It is best to eat it immediately while its served warm. Absolutely fresh and delicious. Recommended!!

Aleo Vera ($3) - Aleo vera cubes are small and in small quantity. Not too sweet, organic right!!

Warrior's Platter ($20) - This value for money platter consist of 6 dishes: curry chicken, chap chye, fried vegetables, chicken wings, achar and tofu with mixed vegetables. Platter is served with brown rice. Larger platter is available for 4pax as well.

Chap Chye - Fresh vegetables that are grown in the farm. Very crunchy.

Fried Vegetables - I guess they fried the vegetables. It is crunchy and crispy and at the same time not too oily. Rather bland in flavour

Warrior's Chicken Curry - Woooo, this is one good dish. Abit spicy but at the same time slightly sweet and sour. Guess its due to the bits of pineapple added into the curry. The chicken meat is tender and firm, highly recommended

Achar Fish (left) and Tofu with Vegetables (right)

Bollywings - Crispy chicken wings

Home made Fig tea and Banana cakes for take away

Besides dining, Bollywood Veggies is definitely a good place for family bonding especially during the weekend or school holidays. It is definitely an educational trip for young children as all plants and flowers are neatly labelled all around the farm. A rewarding experience with great air, food and environment, but do not forget your insect repellent!

Victor's Kitchen - Sunshine Plaza

I have heard so much about Victor's Kitchen and had pass by this cafe many times. Finally, after so many years, i get to try their famous dim sum. Located in Sunshine plaza, along side with the famous parklane wanton noodle, this cafe is always packed with customers especially during meal hours and weekend.

If you are willing to wait, which waiting hour could be quite long, then you get to chance to taste their wonderful handmade dim sum.

HK Summer Iced Tea (冰镇奶茶) $3.20 -  Smooth in texture and rich in flavour. This is their famous iced milk tea. The ratio of tea and milk are in right proportion which i like, with acceptable sweetness. The cup of tea is place in a bowl of ice so that the ice will not dilute the drink and  affect its taste. Very considerate thought for the customers.

Golden Egg Yolk Lava Buns (黄金流沙包) $4.80 - Bestseller

One of their bestseller, the salted egg yolk oozed out from the bun when you take a bite at it. Savoury, buttery and rich in flavour. The buns are fluffy and soft in texture. It is really nice to eat with the filling in it. These buns are a must try.

Oozing egg yolk in action!!!!!

Siew Mai $4.80 - 4 pieces of pork filled dumplings. The pork are juicy and sweet and the fillings are quite generous considered that it is wrapped thinly. Yummy!! I would recommend this dish.

Victor's King Prawn Dumpling (超级虾饺皇) $5.20 - This is another must try dish. The dumplings were sweet and crunchy, it is also filled with 2 whole BIG prawns wrapped within the dumpling!! Wow!!! Usually, most Har Kao are wrapped with  1 or 1 & half prawn in it. Hence, this is really a surprise and enjoyment to me.

Chili Specialty - Don't be deceived by it's look, this is really spicy. I guess it is made up of dry chili and garlic and blend together? LOL, try it yourself.

Steamed Carrot Cake w/ XO Sauce (XO酱干贝腊味蒸萝卜糕) $4.80 - This is one of their specialty dish. On the outside, the steamed carrot cake look like paste. However, after u cut it open, strands of carrots slices lay underneath the paste. This diminished the overall texture of this dish. I only like the upper layer of the paste. Although the strands of carrot are soft, but it just don't match with the texture. Really disappointed. Light soy sauce are poured over the carrot cake for flavour,

Prawn Chee Cheong Fun $4.80 - 3 prawns in each rolls with light soy sauce pour over it.

Golden "Bo Lo" Char Siew Butter Buns (菠萝蜜汁叉烧包)$5.20 - A new item on the menu. You can really smell the butter when it is served hot. Crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. The buns are filled with chunky pork meat fillings.

Did you see the chunky pork meat in the bun???

Nemo's Porridge $4.80 - Sliced fish with preserved egg porridge. A bit bland in flavour but it comes with generous serving of sliced fish and eggs. Porridge are cooked till slightly thicken and mushy texture.

Verdict 3.5 /5

Well, i wasn't expected much since i heard that the standard of food drop drastically. I feel that most of the food here are edible but nothing fantastic. I like the "Bo Lo" Char Siew Butter Buns served here as it is really delicious and fragrant while serve hot. The ice milk tea is also tasty and smoothing.
The service i receive wasn't that great too. For me as a first timer, the "auntie" simply place the order form on the table and leave without any instructions. So i ordered the food that i like to have and "seek" someone to attend to me. The time that i went was after 2pm, after lunch hour, hence by right shouldn't have much difficulty seeking for attention. But it prove otherwise.

Despite all, i still feel that you should come and visit here if you have not done so. I will visit here again if i really have an urge to eat the dim sum.

Ikkousha Hakata Ramen Singapore

I visited this Ramen shop during lunch time when i was in Tanjong Pagar. Reviews that i read was that Hakata Ikkousha Ramen offers to their customers authentic Tonkotsu ramen which originate  from the Hakata province in Japan.

There are 6 different type of flavoured ramen available to choose from. Tonkotsu Ramen, God Fire, Red Tonkotsu, Black Tonkotsu, Shio Tonkotsu and Miso Tonkotsu.

Free flow egg if you visit during lunch time, plus you get to enjoy free tea too

I had the Tonkotsu Ramen with extra noodle!! The soup is specially good, rich and flavourable. It was made from pork bones and had simmered for many hours before using for the ramen. However, it come to the point after eating quite awhile that i feel sick of it. Mainly because the soup is too rich and thick and abit salty.

You can also choose how well done the noodle you will like. Texture from hard or normal to soft. The pork meat slices was tender and delicious. I should have added extra topping for this. Regret!

Ta da, added 2 eggs in to enjoy my lunch!! Yum Yum

Verdict 3.5/5

Fast and good service, food is good but abit steep.

Will consider to drop by if i have extra cash to spare, but then there are lots of food in Tanjong Pagar too!

Soup Restaurant - Nex Outlet

A short food summary on Soup Restaurant as i think most Singaporean are familiar with this restaurant and especially the Samsui Chicken which are famous.

Samsui Ginger Chicken (Large $32.90) - Signature dish from this restaurant. The chicken meat are tender and juicy, fresh!!. Eat with the minced ginger to give you a wonderful taste combination. A really must try dish.

Fried Rice - Delicious and fragrant are the 2 words to describe this fried rice. The rice is cooked finely with oil and right amount of heat hence the rice does not stick together. Generously serving of seafood such as prawns and slice fish.

Homemade Tofu with Spicy sauce ($9.90) - Deep fried tofu with chili sauce poured over it. Sprinkled with fried onions and spring onions to enhance the taste. Chili sauce is starchy and spicy. Really good for chili lovers. Fairly simple dish with no "wow' factor.

Claypot Salmon (small $15.80) - It is fried salmon stir fry with black pepper in a claypot with garnishes like green pepper and onions. I think the salmon are cooked separately as the claypot look super clean with no burnt area. Hardly taste the black pepper. Really disappointed with this order.

Verdict 3.5/5

Only the signature dish like the Samsui Chicken is delicious, for the rest of the dishes taste normal. I am not fascinating by the food and the price is fairly steep.

The service is slow and not good. Staff took wrong order and i have to wait for very long for my food to arrive. It is also hard to catch the staff's attention if I need to refill my tea or asking to take order.

Overall, i won't come back again unless there are really no other restaurants for me to visit.
