Lola's Cafe (Singapore) Review

Lola's Cafe (Singapore)

Situation at Simon road, near Kovan MRT and heartland mall, Lola's cafe is easily accessible via MRT or bus. It is a great place to hang out with friends or loved one. Food is cheap and there is no service charge, great right?

Simple and modern decorations and seats

Not a large space of seats, be prepared to wait if there is a crowd

Desserts menu!!

Arrays of desserts to choose - Take your time

Caramelized Banana Earl Grey Tart with Pistachio Topping -  The Earl Grey cream is fantastic, light and smooth. Increase my appetite to want more. The combination with banana and pistachios is simply heavenly. However, the crust id the tart is too thick but i think is to counter the taste of the filling. Recommended to try.

Latte - Rich in coffee and chocolate taste, recommended!!

Cappuccino

 Dinner Menu

Summer Swimmer Crab Spaghetti - A tomato cream-based spaghetti infused with lemon, basil and chilli. The combination taste more like chili crab to me. The sauce is a bit too spicy for me. But it is definitely a must try dish for those who can really take spicy food.

Duck Leg in Orange Mustard Sauce - Duck leg is hiding!!!!!!!

I like the orange mustard sauce, sweet and yet having the mustard taste. Mash is freshly made, but there are some potatoes that are not evenly pound. Duck leg is crispy on the outside, soft in the inside. However, the meat is a bit dry. Spread some of the orange mustard sauce to elevate the overall dining experience for this dish.

Verdict: 4 / 5

Service is fast but be prepared to wait if you are going for dinner. The food are cooked to order, hence waiting time will be longer. The staffs are attentive to customer's needs, i think is because the place is rather small. Food taste alright, nothing out of the usual but can be better. Food decoration is good and really appetizing.

Recommended for Brunch or Tea time, the place will be filled of food smell during dinner time, ventilation not that effective.

(Authentic Shanghainese Specialties and the exquisite taste of China)

Dragon-i is a chinese restaurant serving authentic Shanghainese food. Its counterpart, Canto-i serve Hongkong style dishes which differ from them. Refer to this link: Canto-i

LemonGrass Drink - Refreshing beverage with a zest of ginger. It is good for heaty people as lemongrass medical benefit is reduce heatness.

Video of the filling

Steamed Egg Yolk Custard Buns - Amazingly bright yellow bun, soft like a marshmallow and the overflowing egg yolk filling was perfectly satisfactory. You can taste the sweetness and eggy feeling from the filling. Savour the taste fully with your taste buds, you wont regret ordering this buns.

Seafood Fried Rice - A really big portion of fried rice. Ingredients include cubed prawns, sliced fish cake and of course eggs. Recommended for 2 pax.

Chicken soup - 2 pieces of chicken swimming is its broth in a small bowl. Tasty and nice, other herbs are included as well.

Shanghainese small dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) - Dumplings, small piece of meat wrap in dough skin, juice from the meat is contained in the wrap. The dumplings are juicy and sweet while the dough skin is soft yet chewy texture. The meat is a mixture of pork and other ingredients. Quite good comparing to "Ding Tai Feng" restaurant

Verdict: 4 / 5

Food is made fresh and serve when hot. I like the atmosphere of the restaurant, relaxing while you enjoying the food.  Kudos to the chefs preparing the food. Staffs are attentive and courteous. Usually long queue during the weekend, be prepare to queue for quite awhile.

Price is reasonable, comparing to the number of dishes ordered. Certainly will visit again.
