Swee Choon Tim Sum Restaurant 瑞春点心餐厅

Swee Choon Tim Sum Restaurant 瑞春点心餐厅

Overly fave dim sum stall at Jalan Besar. When i reach at 7pm, there are already horde of people queuing for their turn to have their dinner. It is always an advantage to dine in this restaurant with lesser people. You will get the seats faster.

Both indoor and out door seatings are available. I will recommend the indoor seating as there is air con, but you will need to wait longer.

Pu Er and Chrysanthemum Tea in old school kind of pot and cups. Wash the cups with hot water before pouring your drink.

Shanghai Xiao Long Bao ($4.30) - lots of juice in each dumpling, fresh pork meat can be found hidden in it

Beancurd Prawn Roll ($3.00) - crispy outer layer

Har Kow Prawn Dumplings ($2.40) - hmm, i find this normal only, not really very good

Steamed Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun ($3.90) - yummy custard buns, the egg yolk custard harden very quickly when cool, so you better eat it while hot

Swee Choon Mee Suah Kueh ($2.00) - Signature dish from Swee Choon. It was one of a kind creative item which is not found at any other eatery. The kueh mixture is made up of fried onion with mee suah.

Law Mai Kai Chicken Glutinous Rice ($2.50)

Almond Longan ($2.50)

Steamed Chicken with Egg ($2.50) - steaming with egg prove to be a wrong choice, the steam egg is salty, not sure if too much salt are added in to preserve the chicken. Definitely a no order choice

Verdict: 3/5
Price: $16 average per pax

搵到食 Wen Dao Shi Dim Sum

搵到食 Wen Dao Shi - Sims Avenue

Wen Dao Shi is a famous cantonese dim sum eatery at Geylang which is frequently filled up by dinner and supper crowds.

Prawn Rice Roll 虾肠粉 ($3.80) - Rice roll was nice and smooth and comes with a special sauce which is not too sweet.

Big Prawn Dumpling ($4.80) -  As the name suggest, these dumplings was filled with large and juicy fresh prawns, wrapped with thin skin.

Liu Sha Bao 流沙包 ($4) - Though it was written as liu sha bao on the menu, it was in fact an effortless mini bite-size custard bun which contain corn paste. There was no traces of salted egg yolk or butter taste and the filling was not oozing. The bun suits the children but not for those who are looking for flowy liu sha bao. Coffeeshop serves better custard bun.

Thai-style Fried Crab Dong Fen 干炒泰式 冬粉螃蟹 ($18) - One of the signature must order dish when you are here. Broth was fully absorbed by the glass noodles and it was full of garlic fagrance. Unlike usual Thai glass noodles which was stir fried with brown sauce and starchy, this version of crab glass noodles was one of the best i have tried that is less oily, not starchy and not sticking together towards the end. Crab was fresh and juicy too. The serving was just nice to be shared between 2 to 3.

I would certainly visit this dim sum eatery again as the selection is dim sum is very extensive and there is some popular items that I have yet to try. Do drop by early to avoid the supper crowd.

To-gather Cafe - Bedok

To-gather Cafe

I was around the vicinity during the last public holiday, since bedok is famous for the bak chor mee hence i decide to eat it again. Due to the long queue, I u-turn back and drop here to try on this cafe. The cafe is packed and there is a waiting list, hence i left my contact number and went for a stroll nearby.

When i was shown to my seat, the cafe is still full. You will have to make your order at the counter and pay your bill right after ordering. Nets and Credit card payment are available

Different cakes for selection. Chocolate lava cake is their best seller while the matcha lava cake is limited quantity

Caller, but it is actually table number. Guess they will use it when they are short handed

Simple menu

Mocha ($4.50) - Lots and lots of foam on the top of the mocha. I wont say this is one of the best i had but still ok, only that i dislike the too generous amount of foam that was on the top.

Seafood Aglio Olio ($8.90) - I am bewildered by the amount of seafood that was served with the spaghetti. There are squid, salmon and prawns in this dish. Abit spicy but still delicious. I really recommended this dish if you drop by.

Grilled Pandan Chicken ($8.90) - Unique pandan flavour, i can only savour this taste at the bottom of the grilled chicken, guess it was the sauce that give this pandan taste. Overall, still taste not bad.

Matcha Lava Cake with Ice Cream ($6.90) - The cake is soft and mist, matcha flow out once you cut the cake. Vanilla ice cream taste good when you eat the the matcha cake. Recommended to try. But if this is not available, you can try their best seller which is the chocolate lava cake.

Can you see the matcha flowing out at the middle section of the cake?? Yummy

Verdict: 4/5
Price: $8.9 onwards

I like this place very much. Cheap food with good service, only negative area is that the seats are limited. Beside this, they also provide reservation service, you can leave you contact number and they will call you once the seats are available.

I love the matcha lava cake. This dessert is newly launched i guess as the quantity are limited. The other best seller is the chocolate lava cake. You can try it too. The ice cream taste good and should eat with the warm cake together to give you a warm and cold sensation.

The other most worth waiting dish is the seafood Aglio Olio. Alots of ingredients are added in with such a cheap price. Waiting time for this dish is a bit long, but i guess it is really worth it.

食为先 - Bgan Coffee Shop (Yishun) [Closed]

食为先 - Bgan Coffee Shop

New coffee shop at Yishun ave 11, Bgan Coffee shop. There are lots of food available here, especially the Zi Char stall. Currently, they are offering special promotion for their curry fish head, beancurd and herbal chicken. Hence i decided to try it and see whether are they good anot.

Menu with lots of variety to select

Herbal Steamed Chicken ($8) - With that kind of price, i think it should be worth it. But consider the kind of food that are served to customer, i will suggest not to try out this dish. The meat is overcooked, very little broth and also i cant taste any herbal taste at all.

Mushroom with Broccoli ($8 small) - Normal dish, broccoli and mushrooms are well cooked. Sauce is think and tasty. More importantly is that the mushrooms are big in size and quite alot

Fish Head ($10) - Hmm, not a bad tasting dish. Although it is one side of the head, but there is quite alot of meat and the sauce is like thai style, sweet and sour. Overall quite a decent dish

Creamy Chicken ($10 small) - Well, at one glance i feel that wow this doesnt look bad. However, when i start to take a piece of the chicken, i realise most of the chicken pieces are bony and does not have alot of meat. $10 for such a dish really doesnt worth it. These are all unwanted parts and does not have much meat

Verdict: 3 / 5

Sadly, i didnt really enjoy the food here. The dishes are mostly disappointing and I feel that paying such a price for the food, i can find somewhere better. But still, it is still ok to have your meal here.
