Song Kee Fishball Noodle - Upper Thomson Road

Song Kee Fishball Noodle - Upper Thomson Road

Being one of the top fishball noodle stall in Singapore, Song Kee fishball noodle is well liked by both the old and young for its handmade fishballs. It is popular among the supper crowd as well as it opens till late night about 2pm or till the fishballs are sold out. Queue starts at around 630pm before it open for business at 7pm.

Queue up to make your order

Mee Pok Dry ($6 big) - The big portion includes 3 large fishballs, 3 dumplings and 2 stuffed tau pok. All the ingredients are handmade fresh daily. You get to choose whether to add ketchup or chili sauce. I like all 3 ingredients especially the dumpling which was thinly wrapped with a unique flavoured pork and mushroom mixture. The tau pok was stuffed with an adequate amount of fish paste as well.  Mee pok noodle was good as well without yellow noodle aftertaste.

Mee Tai Bak Dry ($4 small) - 3 fishballs, 1 dumpling and 1 tau pok

Home-made dumpling filled with minced pork and mushroom, tasty and delicious.

Hand-made fishball taste nice as well. The fishball is more firm compared to those machine made and you are able to taste the sweetness of the fishball itself.

Clear soup filled with fishball taste

Do drop by for your bowl of satisfying fishball noodle if you are at Upper Serangoon region.

Verdict: 3.5/5
Price: $4 - $6

Address: 532 Upper Serangoon Road, Singapore 534547 (one bustop away or 10 mins walk from Serangoon MRT, located next to prata shop)

Gossip 港是讲啡 - Serangoon

Gossip 港是讲啡 - Serangoon

Craving for Hongkong style Cha Chan Ting? Well, now you don't need to travel all the way to Hong Kong. Introducing Gossip cafe, 港是讲啡, located at Serangoon garden. This cafe sells food that you can find in a Hongkong cafe. From instant noodle to fried rice to western food. All you can find can be found.

Curry Fishball ($6.50) - Similar curry fishballs but different colour. The balls here are more towards orange than yellow but it really have that curry taste if you ever eat before along the streets of Hongkong. I guess this is really close to the original recipe.

Pork Chop with rice ($6.80) - Large piece of pork chop in mushroom sauce serve with rice and egg. Pretty normal presentation and taste.

Cheese Fries ($5.80) - Yum Yum, cheese and mayonnaise combination with fries are really tasty

Hk Cart Tom Yum Noodles ($6.80) - Well, does this bring some of the memories back if you ever eaten noodles in Hong kong before? This is something similar to that, a piece of ham with sausages and egg over the instant noodle. Noodles are very springy while the tom yum taste is strong. Pretty much close to the original.

Tom Yum Noodles ($6.80) - You can to choose your sides. Selections include pork chop, chicken chop or luncheon meats.

Luncheon meat

Verdict: 3/5
Price: $14 per pax

Address: 87 Serangoon Garden Way, Singapore 555983
Opening Hours: 12pm till 2am
Tel: 62854319

Well, i guess this is considered normal pricing. The concept is similar to the already long standing cafes like Xin Wang. Hence, not much of an excitement or surprise you can find here. Food taste normal, maybe for another chill out place or lunch time get together option for you to choose.

搵到食 Wen Dao Shi Dim Sum

搵到食 Wen Dao Shi - Sims Avenue

Wen Dao Shi is a famous cantonese dim sum eatery at Geylang which is frequently filled up by dinner and supper crowds.

Prawn Rice Roll 虾肠粉 ($3.80) - Rice roll was nice and smooth and comes with a special sauce which is not too sweet.

Big Prawn Dumpling ($4.80) -  As the name suggest, these dumplings was filled with large and juicy fresh prawns, wrapped with thin skin.

Liu Sha Bao 流沙包 ($4) - Though it was written as liu sha bao on the menu, it was in fact an effortless mini bite-size custard bun which contain corn paste. There was no traces of salted egg yolk or butter taste and the filling was not oozing. The bun suits the children but not for those who are looking for flowy liu sha bao. Coffeeshop serves better custard bun.

Thai-style Fried Crab Dong Fen 干炒泰式 冬粉螃蟹 ($18) - One of the signature must order dish when you are here. Broth was fully absorbed by the glass noodles and it was full of garlic fagrance. Unlike usual Thai glass noodles which was stir fried with brown sauce and starchy, this version of crab glass noodles was one of the best i have tried that is less oily, not starchy and not sticking together towards the end. Crab was fresh and juicy too. The serving was just nice to be shared between 2 to 3.

I would certainly visit this dim sum eatery again as the selection is dim sum is very extensive and there is some popular items that I have yet to try. Do drop by early to avoid the supper crowd.

Operating hour: Daily: 24 Hours

Merely Ice Cream - Sunshine Plaza

Merely Ice Cream

Merely ice cream is a humble ice cream parlor which makes ice cream from scratch with fresh ingredients, excluding any artificial flavouring or colouring.

Merely's Bestseller: Salted butterscotch, black sesame, green tea, red velvet...

Wide selection of about 12 flavours available each day

Per scoop of ice cream from $3.30 onwards.
Waffle - $2.80
Cone - $0.50

Quite worth the price compare to some other ice cream cafes

Small space with rustic furniture and strong buttery ice cream aroma.

Earl Grey and Green tea Ice Cream with waffle ($8.40) - Both scoops of ice cream was heavily flavoured. It taste similar to drinking matcha or earl grey milk tea. Waffle was warm and crispy, less of moist.

As for Red Velvet, small chucks of red velvet cake are mixed with the buttery ice cream and this adds on to the texture of it.

Sunshine Plaza is not an unfamiliar place for the frequent patrons of Victor's Kitchen or Parklane Wanton Noodles. Its a good place to chill especially for the students from Lasalle and SMU. Have your fresh scoop of ice cream from Merely ice cream!
