Revolution Coffee - Media Circle (Portsdown road)

Revolution Coffee - Media Circle

Located in a slightly remote part of Singapore, this restaurant can be easily found if you are able to spot Infinite Studios building. The place is also near where Temasek Club is located. I came here during the weekend, it is specially quiet and is nice to chill out.

The number of seats available

Banana Bread ($4.50) - A big and thick slice of banana bread served together with yogurt. Chunks of banana slice could be seen within the bread. The banana bread is soft and moist, you will be able to taste the banana bits in it. The yogurt is abit sour. Dip into the yogurt help to balance the taste of the bread.

Coffee Affogato ($6.00) - I find this abit more acidic, however, it is still a nice combination. A cup of single shot espresso pour onto the vanilla ice cream and biscuit crunch. Try 2 ways of drinking this mixture, after pouring the coffee, try taking the 1st slip, then the 2nd slip once the ice cream had melted/ melted halfway. The taste is different.

Aftermath of the fight between hot and cold mixture

Combination of coffee and ice cream really give out a nice refreshing taste and aromatic smell of the coffee.

Grilled chicken satay sandwiches ($9.50) - Totally local style sandwich. Chicken washed over by the satay sauce. Simply wonderful. The satay sauce is abit spicy and strong taste of peanuts. Generous serving of grilled chicken too, the chicken meats are marinated before the grilling and is very tasty.

Thick slices of chicken meat

Smoked Salmon Bagel ($7.50) - Bagel is soft and moist. A layer of cheese is apply on the slice before placing the smoked salmon, cucumbers, tomatoes and garden salad. Smoked salmon is fresh and quite generous too. Although taste abit salty, but with the bagel, it totally wiped off the saltiness. Salad is fresh too.

Verdict: 4/5
Price: $15 per pax

The food served are really nice and delicious. I like the smoked salmon bagel especially. The thing about here is the vicinity, quite and out of town feeling. I like this type of chill out places quite alot, it help to make me relax. The crowd is also not overwhelming unlike other places which you need to fight for seats and food. Here, it just let time pass slowly with you having the privileges to take your time slowly.

Pricing of the food is reasonable, as for the comfort, i think it have more rooms for improvement. Most of the seats are hard wooden chairs which hurts after siting for too long. Try to find the sofa seats if it is available.

Noodle Place Restaurant - Orchard Gateway

Noodle Place Restaurant 华苑面粥小厨  - Orchard Gateway

The familiar signboard of Noodle House Restaurant once again appear at the heart of orchard road, Orchard Gateway. With its relocation from The Centerpoint, this popular Chinese restaurant continues to attract its diners once again, serving authentic Hong Kong heart warming dishes such as wanton and dumpling noodles, congee and roasted meat.

2 Combination meats noodle dry ($10, $9 for soup based noodle) - You get to choose the combination of meat from Roast duck to roast pork to char siew. I chose Roast pork and duck. Pork meat is crispy at the outer later while soft and tender at the meat and fats area. Delicious. While the duck meat are chewy and juicy. However, there are very little portion of duck meat consider the price i am paying is higher than the usual price which i can buy from other duck stall.

The noodle is chewy and firm, with the braised sauce, it just taste wonderful. I will suggest you to try the soup based version as the noodle wont get cold too fast.

Dumplings & wanton noodle soup ($9.00) - This bowl of thinly springy egg noodles comes with four big dumplings and wantons which were filled with fresh big prawn and minced meat. The dumpling and wanton are really gigantic in size due to the generous amount of fillings. However, it was considered pricey for its small serving overall.

Promotion: Opening special 15% off total bill (not sure when this will end)

Address: 277 Orchard Road #01-17, Orchard Gateway Singapore 238858
Tel: 67333171
Opening hours: Daily 10am to 10 pm

Verdict 3/5
Price: $10 per pax

Food taste good, except with the small portion that was given. Other than that the service is ok, i manage to catch the waitresses's attention everytime i require assistance. The down part is the price, abit steep. Maybe i will visit again if i feel like trying other dishes or they have discount.

Alfero Artisan Gelato - Orchard Gateway

New outlet opened at Orchard Gateway B2. This stall features homemade Italian gelato that have a wide variety of flavours for customers to select.

Current Pricing if you are looking for waffle + Gelato

I ordered a scoop of pistachio gelato with waffle. I must say that the gelato is certainly very very good. Strong pistachio flavour and its sweetness it just right. Recommended for the gelato. However, i am fairly disappointed with the waffle. Although it was served crispy, but the taste is bland and not fluffy. Its a let down. Still, try the gelato in cups or cone as recommendation.

Pricing: $10 Premium Gelato ($9.50 for normal gelato)

Supply & Demand - Orchard Gateway

Supply & Demand - Branch outlet

I visited this new branch at the newly opened orchard gateway at sommerset. The 1st shop was opened (Esplanade Mall). Nice ambiance as you can see. Great to chill out with your friends and the price is quite ok. Do remember to make reservation as the crowd is quite overwhelming during peak hours.

Table setting - pot of plant

Consist on indoor and so call out door seating, i will recommend to take the indoor seating as it will be easier to catch the staff's attention

Current promo - 50% off 2nd main dish

Aglio olio with prawn - abit salty and abit spicy, prawns are big and fresh. generous amount of garlic slices can be found too

The Morning After Pizza - Nice to look at pizza, toppings are little and the pizza get soft if you do not eat it fast. Topping include mushrooms, bacon and tomato paste. Thin and hard crust.

Verdict: 3.5/ 5

Actually this place is over-rated. I acknowledge that the ambiance is great for chilling out with your friends or love ones but the food just taste normal. The food presentation is nice and mouth drooling but there is no hype on the taste. The pizza look like just any other handmade pizza which you can find from other cafes or stalls and the toppings on the pizza is pathetic - few pieces of mushrooms and countable pieces of bacon is enough to make me turn away from coming here again.

Worse still, the spaghetti served was under-cooked. The staff that was attending to me is courteous and help me bring back to the kitchen with my feedback. However, i believe the spaghetti was recooked and served to me again, but this time it is soaked with gravy!! Really bad service from the kitchen. What make matter worse, when i called for bill, the staffs actually cleared all my plates (which is a good thing) and my drinks!! Ok, i wonder how is the service at the other brunch. The drinks should only be cleared after the customers left the table. It make me feel that i should just leave immediately to cater the space for the next customer.

In addition, the reservation system is bad. The counter staffs do not have a proper reservation system and really mess it all up when customers arrived.
