The Little Prince Creamy 小王子咖啡座

Little Prince Creamery is located under a HDB block and can be easily spotted by it's eye catching black and white interior. Coming to this place is not an easy task since i am not familiar with this neighbourhood. So this is how it goes:
I took bus no. 235 from Toa Payoh interchange and alighted at the 5th stop. You would be able to see Blk 75 Lor 5 hawker centre just before alight. Cross the road to Blk 48, and you will be able to see Blk 47 just behind it.

Once you stepped in the cafe, you will be awed by how well 'drawn' the cafe is. The walls of the interior are painted in white and are hand drawn with black ink all over from the floor to the wall, with pictures of the main character, the Little Prince on the wall as well.

Immerse yourself into the world of Little Prince with the books available for browsing.

The chalkboard menu is just one glance away

Variety of gelatos available for selection

Mocha $4.50 - Stronger chocolate taste compared to coffee. Recommended for those who prefer their coffee to be sweeter.

Muar Otah Sandwich ($7.90) - A east meet west dish, sandwich with otah filling to match local's taste bud for spicy food. Crispy toasted sandwich filled with thick fish otah filling. Together with mayonnaise spread on top of the otah, this combination makes the sandwich taste unique. This is one of the recommended dish for hot items. Chips are nonetheless from Pringles potatoes chips.

Thick otah patty!

2 Scoop of Classic waffles, Pistachio & Earl Gray ($9.30) - The waffle taste alright, crispy on the outside and fairly moist interiorly, however lacks buttery taste. I prefer Earl Gray to Pistachio, probably due to my preference for sweeter taste. The Earl Gray flavour is stronger and definitely sweeter than Pistachio. The pistachio gelato lacks the fragrance of roasted pistachio.

Verdict: 3.5 /5

It is a good place to chill out or a place for your children to hang about as they will get to read about the story of the Little Prince. For food wise, recommended for first timer. There are nicer café and gelato shop in nearby vicinity which are worth to try.

The Yellow Deli - Katoomba (Blue Mountain)

The Yellow Deli - Katoomba (Blue Mountain)

The Yellow Deli is a cosy and vintage two-storey cafe which is well furnished with wooden flooring and furniture all around. This place was filled with customers even during late lunch hours. We waited for around 30 mins before we were allocated with a table.

Menu comprises of sandwiches, salads, soup, desert and drinks

Second level of the cafe

Green Chia Latte ($4.50) and Hot Chocolate ($3.50) - Not bad for both the drinks. You can smell the strong fragrant of the Chia latte. Hot Chocolate for the cold weather is absolutely the best choice.

Deli Rose ($9.50) - Roast beef sandwiched with cheese, tomato and onion. Served together with chips and pickle. Roasted beef is not as hard as imagine, more towards stew meat. The beef is juicy ad tender, cooked at customer's preference on the wellness. Serving was definitely enough to fill a hungry stomach.

Smoked Chicken ($9.50) - Thick layers of smoked chicken ham together with generous servings of cheese, tomato, lettuce and onions. Sandwich was big and filling, however taste was on the salty side.

Verdict: 3.5/5

This is a great place to hang out with friends or family. Very good ambience but service needs improvement. Waiting time is quite long, took almost 30mins to get a seat and not all the staffs are friendly. But as a tourist, it is worth the visit.

Kopi, thick toast and half-boiled eggs ($4.90) - Thick toast was soft and fluffy on the interior with generous spread of home-made kaya and a thick slice of butter.

Typical Hainanese breakfast of early days

Hainanese chicken Rice ($4.00) - Both the steamed white chicken and roasted chicken were tender and rice was fragrant yet not oily. Overall food was on the salty side.

Revolution Coffee - Media Circle (Portsdown road)

Revolution Coffee - Media Circle

Located in a slightly remote part of Singapore, this restaurant can be easily found if you are able to spot Infinite Studios building. The place is also near where Temasek Club is located. I came here during the weekend, it is specially quiet and is nice to chill out.

Drink/Dessert Menu

Main dishes and sides

Display at the counter

The number of seats available

Banana Bread ($4.50) - A big and thick slice of banana bread served together with yogurt. Chunks of banana slice could be seen within the bread. The banana bread is soft and moist, you will be able to taste the banana bits in it. The yogurt is abit sour. Dip into the yogurt help to balance the taste of the bread.

Coffee Affogato ($6.00) - I find this abit more acidic, however, it is still a nice combination. A cup of single shot espresso pour onto the vanilla ice cream and biscuit crunch. Try 2 ways of drinking this mixture, after pouring the coffee, try taking the 1st slip, then the 2nd slip once the ice cream had melted/ melted halfway. The taste is different.

Aftermath of the fight between hot and cold mixture

Combination of coffee and ice cream really give out a nice refreshing taste and aromatic smell of the coffee.

Grilled chicken satay sandwiches ($9.50) - Totally local style sandwich. Chicken washed over by the satay sauce. Simply wonderful. The satay sauce is abit spicy and strong taste of peanuts. Generous serving of grilled chicken too, the chicken meats are marinated before the grilling and is very tasty.

Thick slices of chicken meat

Smoked Salmon Bagel ($7.50) - Bagel is soft and moist. A layer of cheese is apply on the slice before placing the smoked salmon, cucumbers, tomatoes and garden salad. Smoked salmon is fresh and quite generous too. Although taste abit salty, but with the bagel, it totally wiped off the saltiness. Salad is fresh too.

Verdict: 4/5
Price: $15 per pax

The food served are really nice and delicious. I like the smoked salmon bagel especially. The thing about here is the vicinity, quite and out of town feeling. I like this type of chill out places quite alot, it help to make me relax. The crowd is also not overwhelming unlike other places which you need to fight for seats and food. Here, it just let time pass slowly with you having the privileges to take your time slowly.

Pricing of the food is reasonable, as for the comfort, i think it have more rooms for improvement. Most of the seats are hard wooden chairs which hurts after siting for too long. Try to find the sofa seats if it is available.
