Regoli Pasticceria (Pastry) - Rome

Regoli Pasticceria is a reputable old pastry shop which sells a range of delectable pastry and cakes at affordable prices. You do not have to pay a bomb to enjoy these quality sweet treats. We were absolutely spoiled of choices as we stepped in and look at the shelves of pastry and cakes. It is a one stop place where you can find all the traditional Italian's pastry.

Right beside Regoli Pasticceria is Regoli Gelateria caffe which sells a wide range of freshly churned gelato with indoor seats within it.

Take away pastry wrapped very nicely like a present parcel.

Cornetto, Chocloate Eclair and Pistachio Puff

Cornetto- Cornetto is a common pastry in Rome. Regoli's cornetto is huge with thick pastry crust. The custard fillings were very generous, thick and firm as well

Pistachio Cream Puff - Pistachio cream was thick and fragrant. Portion of puff and cream was just nice, but i find it too sweet to finish off the sugar icing on top.

Chocolate Eclair - Another pastry which melts our heart. The fillings taste like dark chocolate, not too sweet and not diluted at all.

Bavaresi 2.50 euro- This is another Italian dessert with thick custard alike light cream sandwiched with 2 piece of pastry crusty base and thick sugar icing on top. It melt right away in the mouth due to its icy texture.

Verdict: 4/5

We visited this shop 2 times and both times did not disappoint us at all. All the pastries are reasonably priced at around 2.50 Euro, and they certainly worth its value for its given quality and quantity. Regoli is about 15 mins walking distant from the Colosseum and 10 mins walk from the nearest metro station. Other than the Colosseum, Regoli is another thing i remember for Rome!

Drips Bakery Cafe - Tiong Bahru

Drips Bakery Cafe

Specialist in tarts making, Drips Bakery cafe is one that you should not miss if you like tarts and desserts. Located in Tiong baru where lots of delicious food are available, Drips Bakery cafe offer fantastic tarts and pastries that one can keep on eating. Coupled with aromatic coffees and teas, definitely a must for those who have sweet tooth.

Wide variety of tarts, pastries and cakes to choose from. Weekend special are Lemon Meringue tarts and the bread pudding which are recommended by the shop staff. Mixed berries and strawberries tarts are also popular as well.

Cakes are also available if you find that the tarts and pastries are a bit too sweet for you

Wide space and comfortable environment for chill out with friends and family

Food and drink items available for choosing

Mocha - Nice coffee, what so special about this is that they use a transparent cup which the inner wall is coated with chocolate syrup. It makes me wanted to stir to melt all the chocolate syrup and drink it right after stirring. Well balance between the chocolate and coffee.

Lemon Meringue tart - Well, this is their weekend special tart. The tangy Meringue are homemade while the tart crust is firm enough to withhold the filling. Berries are fresh and juicy. Overall lemon taste is not too sour, but i find it slightly below the normal sourness which i can take. I find this tart acceptable and not too disappointing for a weekend special

Strawberry Tart - I must say that the tart is very striking and attractive to me because of the red from the strawberries and berries. However, look can be deceiving. I find the tart taste abit bland, but i think that is to counter the sweetness of the berries

Verdict: 3.5 / 5

Overall, i find that the tarts are delicious and good. I can have more of it. However, i find that the price is a bit steep for the food and the drinks. It is still a nice place to chill out and have desserts with your friends and family members. What's more, there are plenty of food choice to choose from in this surrounding, just drop by if you have a space for tarts and coffee.

Tong Heng Confectionary - Egg tart Review

Tong Heng Confectionary

Traditional store lies in the heart of Chinatown. They sell the best egg tart that can be found in Singapore. In additional of its delicious filling, the shape of the egg tart are also unique. Where can you find a diamond shape. Having a unique shape also plays a big role in its appeal, most people will pick up the pastry in their hands with their thumb and three fingers and the most natural way of eating the tart. One will start to aim to eat at the sharp edge first and ending with the opposite edge. You will get to taste the crunchy pastry and enjoy the soft and wobbly custard with thin base in between.

Boxes will only be used to put your egg tarts if you purchase more than 5 egg tarts. Recommended to buy in multiples of 6 so that you can ensure all your egg tarts are pack securely and the egg tarts will be intact.

Try storing the egg tart the refrigerator. They actually pretty good too. If you do not like cold, refrigerated egg tarts just heat the tarts up slightly and they'll still taste marvelous. The egg tarts can also be store in fridge.

The plain egg tarts also comes with coconut flavour. You can actually chew the coconut shred in the egg tart. Making them taste crunchier and special.  The custard of the egg tart is a bit soft and oozy while the pastry is flaky and yummy. The custard secret three ingredients are: viz eggs, water and sugar rather than using thickeners like custard powder or corn flour, theirs is a pure egg custard in other places.

Coconut Egg tart

The custard filling is slightly wobbly but still solid enough to require biting through. Try slurping the egg custard for the plain ones. The crisp and fluffy tart cup will make you feel marvelous when biting through. If you still have somemore spare cash, try also the wife and husband biscuits (or any biscuits they have). They taste as good as the egg tarts too.
