新順發肉骨茶
New outlet jjust recently pop up here at Serangoon road. It is crowded when i reached here at a public holiday night. Lots of people are waiting for table or their food. Hence i decided to try out the bak kut teh here.
Delicious You Tiao ($1) and iced Ai yu ($2.20 Honey jelly) - You Tiao are fresh and chewy when eat it original, when soak in Bak Kut Teh soup, it quickly soften and absorb the soup quickly. Really love it.
Iced Ai Yu, abit sweet and sliced of the honey jelly can be found and drink through the straw
Traditional Bak Kut Teh ($6) - This version of Bak Kut Teh is Cantonese style which is the herbal side. Trace of pepper can be found when drinking the soup. You can find gou qi zi, golden mushrooms, Tau Kee, a few pieces of sliced Pork liver and pork. Surprising thing is that the pork served are loin instead of pork rib which i preferred. Overall taste, faint herbal taste, the soup is tasty since the broth are cooked by using pork. Other than that, i do not find anything special. Oh, free flow of soup too upon request.
Dry version of Bak Kut Teh ($7) - Surprised that i can find a dry version which i wonder how am i suppose to eat. Instead of using lots of broth to cook the pork, soy sauce and lesser amount of broth are used to cook the meat. With the additional of dry chili and lady fingers, the dry Bak Kut Teh is alot more spicy, abit sweet due to the soy sauce and heavy after taste. It is nice to have that dark sauce to eat it with white rice, really make the plain white rice alot nicer. Again, i did not see my pork rib being used or serve in this version. Really disappointing. Fried sliced ginger are sprinkled on top of the Bak Kut Teh.
Sesame ginger chicken ($6) - I really like this dish alot. Very tasty and delicious. Sliced ginger and chucks of chicken meat are dump into the claypot and cooked with dark soy sauce, making the broth of this dish very appetizing. I like it especially because of the well cook chicken meat and the sauce which goes incredibly well.

Verdict: 3 / 5
I feel that the food here is generally normal, maybe for the exception of a surprise element in the dry version of Bak Kut Teh which lasted for awhile and cost $1 more because it is special and the better tasting Sesame ginger chicken. Hence the rating of the food is at the normal range. I still prefer the sesame ginger chicken that Bak Kut Teh.
Service here is slow and very slow. The reason of the long queue is because there is a shortage of staffs serving the customers, tables are left unclean with bowls and left over all over the tables. Only when big groups of customers swam in then the tables are cleared. Food serving time is slow too, maybe it is due to the time taken to cook individual pot of Bak Kut Teh?? Well, i am not sure of that.
Price is at the acceptable range, $6 for a bowl of Bak Kut Teh is abit higher than normal compare to what you can find in a hawker centre. But there are no GST and service charge, hence it is still reasonable.
I do not think i will come back again. Unless under special circumstances.
