To-gather Cafe - Bedok

To-gather Cafe

I was around the vicinity during the last public holiday, since bedok is famous for the bak chor mee hence i decide to eat it again. Due to the long queue, I u-turn back and drop here to try on this cafe. The cafe is packed and there is a waiting list, hence i left my contact number and went for a stroll nearby.

When i was shown to my seat, the cafe is still full. You will have to make your order at the counter and pay your bill right after ordering. Nets and Credit card payment are available

Different cakes for selection. Chocolate lava cake is their best seller while the matcha lava cake is limited quantity

Caller, but it is actually table number. Guess they will use it when they are short handed

Simple menu

Mocha ($4.50) - Lots and lots of foam on the top of the mocha. I wont say this is one of the best i had but still ok, only that i dislike the too generous amount of foam that was on the top.

Seafood Aglio Olio ($8.90) - I am bewildered by the amount of seafood that was served with the spaghetti. There are squid, salmon and prawns in this dish. Abit spicy but still delicious. I really recommended this dish if you drop by.

Grilled Pandan Chicken ($8.90) - Unique pandan flavour, i can only savour this taste at the bottom of the grilled chicken, guess it was the sauce that give this pandan taste. Overall, still taste not bad.

Matcha Lava Cake with Ice Cream ($6.90) - The cake is soft and mist, matcha flow out once you cut the cake. Vanilla ice cream taste good when you eat the the matcha cake. Recommended to try. But if this is not available, you can try their best seller which is the chocolate lava cake.

Can you see the matcha flowing out at the middle section of the cake?? Yummy

Verdict: 4/5

I like this place very much. Cheap food with good service, only negative area is that the seats are limited. Beside this, they also provide reservation service, you can leave you contact number and they will call you once the seats are available.

I love the matcha lava cake. This dessert is newly launched i guess as the quantity are limited. The other best seller is the chocolate lava cake. You can try it too. The ice cream taste good and should eat with the warm cake together to give you a warm and cold sensation.

The other most worth waiting dish is the seafood Aglio Olio. Alots of ingredients are added in with such a cheap price. Waiting time for this dish is a bit long, but i guess it is really worth it.

Bedok 85 Bak Chor Mee - Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian Vs Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee

Well, i believe most of the locals did heard that Bedok 85 sell one of the best Bak Chor Mee in Singapore. But who exact are the best? Well, i ordered from each of the stall and tried them out. Usually there are alot of people waiting to buy the famous Bak Chor Mee during evening time and especially weekends. Hence, go there at around 5pm if you want to skip the queue.

Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee $2.50 / $3 - They sell dry and soup base mee. The broth is thick and very tasty, you are able to taste the minced pork just by tasting the soup. Generous serving of porkballs as i only $2.50 mee. Pork balls are chewy but have a heavy pork smell which i am not really fond of. Big red cut chillis are given too if you like spicy food. The noodle however is abit disappointment, the noodle smell still linger around when i chew on them. Doesn't really impress me on this.

Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian $2.50 / $3 - They only sell the soup base bak chor mee. Well, i must compare soup base with soup base right? Hahaha. The broth is delicious, very flavourable and tasty. Porkballs are chewy and fantastic. They do not have that heavy pork smell when i chew on them which means they are much fresher compare to the previous. Noodle is well cooked and absorb the broth totally. The noodle taste is not that heavy too and are tender too. Chillis are already add on top of the noodle, for those who can't take spicy, better to inform the seller that you do not want chili when ordering.

Overall, i prefer Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian, maybe just win by a margin from the way the noodles are cooked. Ultimately, both stalls have their supporters and fans.
Try them both if you drop by and decide yourself which is better. However, there are lots more food around the area, i strongly suggest to try other food nearby.

Milk and Honey Gelato - Bedok 86

Milk and Honey Gelato

I had heard of this shop situated in the Bedok but have not actually step in here before as it is too far east from where i am staying. Finally have time to have visit this shop and have a taste of it. Located at the corner of Blk 86 bedok, this small little gelato shop offer wide range of gelato flavours such as chocolate and pistachio flavour which are they best seller. They also sell Mao Shan Wang flavour too for durian lover.

Wide range of gelato selections. You can ask to taste them before deciding which flavours that you like to have

Set meals available, get the buddy meal if you want to try 2 different flavours of gelatos

Opening hours

White Mac & Shy Green nut ice cream waffles - The white mac consist of macadamia nuts and white chocolate. The mixture is supreme!! I totally like this flavour. Shy Green nut is made of pistachio and chocolate flakes. It does not fare too bad compare to the White Mac, strong pistachio taste which goes well with the chocolate flakes. Simply wonderful. Waffles taste normal.

In terms of food, i really have not much complaint. Except for the fact that there are no syrup provided? Maybe i am used to having either maple or honey syrup to go with the ice cream waffles. But here, none was provided. Gelato is really good. no complaint.

Service provided is not that great. Stain and dirt can be seen from the utensils and cups that are provided. Really turn off when i saw all these.
