L'as du Fallafel- Paris

This is one of the 'must eat food' when you visit Paris. L'as du Fallafel offer one of the best Fallafel that you cannot resist. This hole in the wall restaurant consist of indoor seating as well as a takeaway counter. Do note that there will be table charge if you decide to eat in.  It basically sells kebab wrap in assorted meat and vegetables.

Menu clearly written in English at the takeaway counter

You will be able to see how the kitchen works while the staffs preparing your orders. Lots of ingredients are stuffed into the pita bread.

When we arrived there at about 1.30pm, the queue was quite long. Do not be alarmed by the queue as it moves quite fast. We joined the queue, made our order and payment with a guy and thereafter he issued us the order ticket. The queue is less than 15 minutes. When you reach the window, you will need to pass your order ticket to the guy by the window, and he will assemble your order for you.

Shawarma (Lamb + Turkey meat)

Extremely saucy and filled with generous amount of shredded cabbage, tomatoes, egg plants and tahini. The  meats can be found at the top and middle later of the wrap. The pita bread is warm and soft and you can easily bite it off. Although it consist of lamp and turkey, I am not able taste the difference of both meat with so much sauce added on it. Overall slightly spicy due to the chili sauce added. I really enjoy every bite of  this Shawarma wrap.

Fallafel Special

Yes, the most popular item - Fallafel sandwich. As before, it is stuffed with lots of vegetables like shredded cabbage, tomatoes, egg plants and tahini. The deep-fried Fallafel is made up or either chickpeas or fava beans which I am not so sure of, but it is excellent! Very crispy on the outside but moist in the inside.
The fried eggplant is terrific too!!

Forks and serviettes are available to reduce the mess that you are getting into.

Ta Da!! our food!! The only different between the Fallafel and Shawarma is that Fallafel is totally vegetarian while Shawarma is not.

Verdict 4/5

Good food but slightly expensive for street food. But definitely worth it.

Chinatown Food Street (Singapore)

Chinatown Food Street -Smith Street

The new and refreshed Chinatown Food Street now welcome all visitors with specialty local dishes from the 4 different races in Singapore. Located on Smith Street, which is the heart of Chinatown, the look create the most authentic Singapore dining experience for locals and tourists .Iconic food such as satay to hokkien mee from all local cultures are all situated at one street which is convenient for all.

Visitors now can enjoy al-fresco dining style along the street. New high-ceiling glass canopy shelter and  cooling system allow diners enjoy themselves fully on the food available here regardless of rain or shine. The  street hawker stalls operate as an ad hoc street kiosks with full cooking equipment.

Maxwll road Soon Soon Popiah, spring roll ($2.50) - usual ingedients like bangkwang (turnip), garlic, roasted peanuts and beansprouts. Pale in taste compare to other stalls

Katong Kean Kee Fried Oyster ($8/$10) - Crispy and not very oily. Big fat Oyster is fresh and not stinky. Long queue for this stall but i do not find this dish worth queuing.

Tiong Baru Meng Kee Roast Duck set ($10) - Normal to me, the roasted meat is nice

Fried Carrot cake ($4) - Black version is sweet, not over cooked but be prepared to queue as there are alot of customers for this stall. Take note to order and pay for your food first before queuing.

Fried Hokkien Mee ($5/$8) - Moist and tasty. Broth is flavourable and taste of prawn. The noodle really soak up all of the prawn broth making this dish very delicious. recommended for this dish

Drink stall - Expensive drinks sold here. Sugercane sell at $2.50 per cup, isnt this expensive??

Opening hours: daily 11am -11pm

Verdict: 3 / 5

As a local, i strongly do not recommend this place here as there are really alot of better stalls and better quality food out there. The quality of food here is really not worth the price as the price is really steep. But for a tourist, this place is where you can really taste a variety of well-known food in Singapore. Rather than travelling all around Singapore just to have a taste of local cuisine, come here and tour around, it may have what you have been looking for.

王子起司馬鈴薯 (Prince Cheese Potato) - Taiwan Ximending/Shilin

王子起司馬鈴薯 (Prince Cheese Potato)

Cheese potatoes!!! I am sure this is most people favorite food, who doesn't like it especially with a generous  spread of cheese and other ingredients as toppings. Basically you get a mashed potato molded into a ellipsoid shape with a hardboiled egg stuff in, dipped and battered in breadcrumbs and fried it. After which, the fried potato was dissected, stuffed, and covered with pretty much whatever ingredients that you want!!! Great right???? I am pretty drooling while I was waiting for mine to be ready.

Different combination which you like your potato to be

Bacon bits, ham, turkey, corn, pineapple, broccoli, mayonnaise, and a hard boiled egg.... I want everything!!!

MORE CHEESE PLEASE!!!!

Overflowing of cheese!! Yummy Yummy. The potato taste crunchy on the outside because of the fried breadcrumbs and soft in the inside due to the mashed potato. It is especially tasty when you are eating with all the mixed ingredients. Wow! really delicious.

You can find this stall in both 士林夜市 (Shilin Night Market) or 西門町 (Ximending night Market). it cost like 55 NT ($1.75)
